The Red Hourglass

“This is my home now.” She said to the Girl-on-the-ceiling. She was neither cruel nor gloating. Matter-of-fact. As unmoved and unfeeling as the blue of the sky. The girl looked afraid. Her back pressed against the wall.

“You’ll have to move or I’ll have to kill you.” Said the Girl-on-the-ceiling, but her voice betrayed her. She convinced neither of them. “I’m bigger than you.” trying to sound fierce.

Silly girl, She thought, shifting her weight so the Girl-on-the-ceiling could see her more clearly. This isn’t a fight you will win.

The world righted itself and the Girl-on-the-ceiling considered the red hourglass.
